This study aims to analyze the failures in the turning rail of an iron ore recuperator and seek solutions to the found problems. By means of the Fault Analysis Applied (FAA) tool, it was possible to find the failure mode that resulted in the faults found in the turning rail, the tool pointed to a failure in the rail dimensioning. Using the concepts of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) through the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) tool, three problems were observed in the rail sizing that impacted the Physical Availability (PA) of the equipment causing in it a corrective stop for five days, considering that this kind of maintenance is undesirable, because it directly affects the production capacity of the equipment.
