The objective of this study is to observe the continued use of these two toponyms by diferente generations and the reasons for their continued use despite the colonizing influence in na attempt to erase the representativeness of the name of Indigenous origin. The research is anchored theoretically and methodologically in the studies of Dick (2007; 1992), Cunha (1999), Andrade (2006), Seabra (2004), Silveira Bueno (2013), Biderman (2001) regarding Toponymy and the study of the Lexicon, as well as in those of Ponso (2017), Severo (2019), and Veronelli (2021) to support the reflection on minority languages and the decoloniality of language, and Oliveira (2012) with the histories and memories of Urumajo. The methodology is based on bibliographic research, documentary research, and field studies carried out in situ, with older subjects, on the one hand, and, on the other, younger subjects, in order to observe the permanence of the use of the two toponyms in different generations. The research reveals the conservation of the use of two toponyms in the locality under study to the present day. The toponym Urumajó as a mark of identity and belonging, and Augusto Corrêa as a form of political personalism, constructed to immortalize the figure of a political figure from Bragança and imposed to attract recognition from the residents of this place.
