In the adult stage, caddisflies have wings and setae that cover practically their entire body. They live in terrestrial environments and resemble small moths. In Brazil, there are approximately 940 species records of Trichoptera, distributed in 16 families and 74 genera. Currently, there are few family identification keys for the Brazilian adult Trichoptera, none of them interactive. This drastically limits identification, mainly because traditional dichotomous keys rely on specific characters and morphological structures, which may be damaged in many specimens (e.g. antennae, labial and maxillary palps, tibial spurs). In this context, the present study presents an interactive and illustrated key for identifying families of adult Trichoptera that have record in Brazil. The key was made using the Xper3 platform, which allows easy access and also its constant update. Thirteen diagnostic structures were photographed and edited, such as wing venation, maxillary palps, eyes and ocelli, legs, mesoscutum and mesoscutellum of representatives of the Trichoptera families and uploaded to the Xper3 platform. Furthermore, some characters that are more difficult to visualize were complemented with illustrations.
