The research was motivated by the author's academic and personal experiences, which revealed a lack of meaningful literary reading practices in educational institutions. Based on theoretical studies and the analysis of interviews with early childhood educators, the study found that, despite different contexts, there is a common understanding of the essential role of literature in promoting cognitive, linguistic, emotional, and social development in young children. However, several challenges hinder the effective implementation of literature in daily school routines, including pedagogical, structural, cultural, and social limitations. The study highlights that the sensitive and intentional mediation of the educator is crucial to transforming reading into a rich experience of affective bonding, symbolic construction, and identity formation.
