Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10183This research analyzes the founding narrative of São Domingos do Capim, in the state of Pará, based on the religious references found in the report Exploração e estudo do Valle do Amazonas (1875), by João Barbosa Rodrigues. It takes as its starting point the account according to which the former parish of São Domingos da Boa Vista was founded in 1758 by D. Frei Miguel de Bulhões, a member of the Dominican Order, and dedicated to Saint Dominic of Guzmán, seeking to understand the historical meanings produced by this association and its relationship with the construction of a founding memory and local senses of belonging. Methodologically, the research is situated within the fields of Cultural History and the History of Religion, employing documentary analysis and interviews, in dialogue with the Libellus de principiis Ordinis Praedicatorum and discussions on memory, identity, and narrative.
