Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8742Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly present in different contexts, with organizations and professionals adopting its use not only to optimize time but also to improve practices. In the context of libraries, this reality has also been gradually emerging. The general objective of this study is to understand whether and how librarians from the Library System of the Federal University of Pará (SIBI/UFPA) use AI tools in their work environment. To achieve this, the following specific objectives were proposed: to identify librarians’ familiarity with AI-based tools; to determine which tools or resources are most frequently used; to discuss how AI can influence librarians’ roles and library services; and to point out possible obstacles to AI implementation within SIBI/UFPA. This descriptive research was carried out through a survey method, using an online questionnaire applied to system librarians. The results show that most participants already use AI in both personal and professional contexts, while also expressing a strong desire for training opportunities. AI is perceived as a valuable resource to optimize processes, support decision-making, and assist bibliographic activities, although its use requires critical thinking, ethical conduct, and adequate training.
