The motivation for this research is associated with the need to reduce operational costs, decrease fossil fuel consumption, and mitigate environmental impacts resulting from onboard thermoelectric generation, particularly due to its operation within an environmental conservation area (extractive reserve). Initially, a detailed survey of the vessel’s electrical loads was conducted, considering nominal power, average usage time, and daily consumption profile. Based on these data, a load profile was established, and computational simulations were performed using the PVsyst software to size the photovoltaic system. The technical analysis demonstrated the infeasibility of fully meeting the vessel’s demand due to limitations in the available installation area for photovoltaic modules. Therefore, a partial supply strategy was adopted, in which the photovoltaic system operates during periods of lower energy demand, while a 75 kVA diesel generator remains in operation during peak consumption hours. The proposed hybrid solution provides significant fuel savings and reduces environmental impacts associated with diesel combustion. The results indicate that integrating photovoltaic generation with the conventional onboard power system presents high technical, economic, and environmental feasibility, representing a sustainable and replicable alternative for similar inland waterway vessels.
