From this perspective, it seeks to investigate the formation mechanisms and classifications of new words incorporated into the Orthographic Vocabulary of the Portuguese Language (VOLP) in the 2025–2026 period. To support the theoretical discussion, the research draws upon the contributions of Basilio (2007), Rocha (1998), Bechara (2007), Aronoff (1976), and Câmara Jr. (1984), aiming to provide a comprehensive view of the topic. The methodology consists of a descriptive and quantitative bibliographical study focused on identifying and describing the formation processes used in these neologisms. For data analysis, 166 occurrences of neologisms registered in VOLP during the investigated period were collected. The results demonstrated the processes with the highest frequency of occurrence, highlighting the most productive mechanism in the contemporary Portuguese lexicon.
