Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5956This article addresses the lives of children in the 60s, in the city of Abaetetuba/PA, in order to understand the challenges and experiences experienced in that period and their relevance today. This is a qualitative approach research, based on bibliographical studies in authors such as Ariès (1981), Kuhlmann (2010) and Del Priore (1991), who widely discuss childhood and the children's universe. In addition, empirical data were collected through interviews with residents of the city of Abaetetuba. The results of the study allow us to infer that the living conditions of children in the 60's were notably different compared to the current context. In the educational aspect, it was verified that the availability of schools was limited, and the educational system was based on a traditional model, in which the use of physical punishment was common as a form of discipline for students. In the cultural sphere, the children lived with different cultural manifestations, such as festivals, community events and religious celebrations, which played a significant role in their daily lives.
