Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7151The Law No. 12.318, of August 26, 2010, known as the Parental Alienation Law, aims to curb the practice of a parent using their child as an instrument of revenge to target their ex-spouse/ex-partner, taking advantage of their power as guardian parent, thus generating psychological damage to the child or adolescent. However, Brazilian and international governmental entities have indicated that this legal institute is being used by courts as a form of violence and gender discrimination, a complaint made by women's collectives, scientific studies and reports related to the use of parental alienation that denote its misogynistic content, such as cases that have covered up child sexual abuse. The aim of this critical analysis is to examine how parental alienation is intertwined with the protection of women and children, exploring the controversies that permeate this issue. As we delve deeper into this topic, it will be possible to uncover the psychological, social and legal impacts of parental alienation on women, who are often victims of abusive relationships, and on children, whose emotional development can be profoundly affected by this adverse family dynamic.
