So, one way found is to introduce coconut fiber as reinforcement in concrete due to advantages it brings. Considering that, the following study sought to explore whether the use of coconut fiber as reinforcement in concrete is technically viable. The research focuses on reviewing work about coconut fiber reinforced concrete, seeking informations mainly about its mechanical properties and durability. The methodology used was a bibliographic review, collecting serveral articles for readind and selecting the most relevant and impactful in the academic field. The results obtained show that the incorporation of coconut fiber, in a percentage between 0% and 2%, into concrete improves the mechanical properties, as well as providing greater durability. Additionally, the use of coconut fiber reduces the generation of solid waste by civil construction and decreases the release of carbon into the atmosphere.
