Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10277This article aims to analyze the conceptions of mathematics held by 9th-grade students at a riverside school in Curralinho, Pará. It is a qualitative study that employs semi-structured interviews as the research instrument. To classify the interviews, the study used established historical schools of thought regarding mathematics—specifically the Platonic, Pythagorean, Absolutist, and Formalist schools—as well as the conception of mathematics found in the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base). The work of Baraldi (1999) served as the theoretical basis. Data analysis revealed that the students' conceptions of mathematics are shaped by diverse influences. Ultimately, it was observed that the majority of students held conceptions notably influenced by the BNCC. Other students displayed conceptions influenced by the Pythagorean and Formalist schools.
