The objective is to describe, based on iconography, the symbolic elements of relevance in the festival of Saint Benedict of the Fortunes in (Souzel) Senador José Porfírio, Pará. The work is based on the assumption that the ritualistic and symbolic elements of this popular festival have remained alive since the 19th century due to popular devotion, more as a cultural element, regardless of its alignment with the Catholic Church. The research is bibliographical and fieldwork-based, with a qualitative focus. The methodology is based on the analysis of sacred documents and photographic images. The theoretical framework is based on R. JAKOBSON's Semiotic Theory of Culture (2010). The symbolic elements are described based on the concepts of iconography by Erwin Panofsky, Wagley (1892-1968), Eliade (1979 and 1992), Hall (2011), and Williams (1992), among others.
