Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8326The work addresses "Problem Solving in the process of teaching and learning Mathematics in classes of the 6th school year in Capanema – PA", with the objective of understanding how this methodology is present in the teaching-learning of Mathematics from the reports of experience and pedagogical practice of teachers who work with the discipline at this level of education. For the development of the work, a review of the pertinent literature and fieldwork with the application of a questionnaire were used. The information collected was analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the teaching work in the discipline of Mathematics is of paramount importance with its experiences and didactics that help in the educational development of students in the 6th year of Elementary School. The importance of observing the development of students is emphasized in order to encourage their learning and creativity in the act of thinking and practicing Mathematics. Specifically, problem solving, as a methodological option among others, shows promise in teaching practice, although there is a need for greater knowledge about the methodology.
