Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9633The Geoscience Education was implemented in Brazilian schools only in the mid-19th century and was addressed dispersedly within the subjects of Natural Sciences and Geography. In spite of its importance, geoscience education faces challenges related to the traditional teaching model, in which the student is a passive recipient. Active learning methodologies emerge as na alternative to enhance learning and make the students active participants in the construction of their own knowledge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the domino game as an alternative playful tool for teaching Geosciences in Elementary School. The research was carried out in a public school located in the city of Bragança (Pará), with 16 students from the 9th grade of middle school (Brazilian Ensino Fundamental II) at E.E.E.F.M Profª Domingas da Costa Sousa. As a tool for qualitative analysis, the students' justified responses in the questionnaires were considered at both the beginning and the end of the study. The methodological approach implemented in this study, in relation to the application of the domino game as a teaching resource in the active methodology of Game-Based Learning - GBL, contributed satisfactorily to the teaching-learning process of students in the classroom environment, improving the students' Geosciences-based knowledge, which initially was 37% and, in the end, increased to 69%.
