Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9150Early childhood education is a fundamental stage in children’s development, and for this reason, the training of teachers who work in this field requires meticulous care. This study, therefore, addresses the theme of preservice teacher education in early childhood education and the construction of teacher identity. The present work aims to reflect on this training and its impact on the professional identity formation of future female teachers. The methodology employed for this investigation was a qualitative approach with field research, and the main research instrument was participant observation. The theoretical framework was based on key authors such as Pimenta and Lima (2006), Oliveira (2006), Gadotti (2003) and Freire (1996; 1997a; 1997b;). The findings indicate that the relationship between theory and practice, provided by supervised internship - as a space for learning and critical reflection - contributes significantly to the training and identity identity construction of the early childhood teacher. It reinforces the idea that preservice teacher education is an irreplaceable pillar for the quality of education and for the constitution of a solid, ethical, and transformative teaching identity.
