To do this, firstly, we bring some aspects of the historical development of area calculation from ancient Egypt to the modern era. Next, we show the definitions, theorems and postulates of plane geometry that underlie the area calculation. Furthermore, we talk about the context in which we live, demonstrating why to use Geogebra and digital technologies in education. We present a tutorial on how to calculate the area of polygonal regions in the Geogebra software as well as apply the Pick Formula in the same program.
