However, it is possible that such environments are not fully aligned with the needs of your workers. For this reason, this work aimed to analyze, in the light of environmental psychology and its analysis variables (socio-physical environment, affordance, personal space and territoriality), which aspects of the built space of the Feira da Cidade – located in the Cidade Nova complex in Ananindeua, Pará – influence the behavior in relation to the impacts and the possible adaptation strategies adopted by the merchants. For this, the methodological path adopted included bibliographic and documentary research, unsystematic observation, application of form and systematic observation using behavioral mapping, using analysis criteria based on the theoretical references of Pinheiro, Elali and Fernandes (2008) with observation sheets and schematic plans, and Douglas Aguiar (2010), with the concepts of barriers, passages and routes. The results revealed that the stallholders, in general, have a good relationship with the market environment, however, aspects such as insufficient space and inadequate structure for their service are the main challenges faced by them, which is directly related to the adaptations made in the space registered in the process. The observation of the behavior of the stallholders contributed to the discussion about the relationship of the observed aspects with the analysis variables of environmental psychology, since the spatial configuration and behavior reveal the market as a socially and physically recognized environment, in addition to clear traces of affordance with a single object being used for various purposes and personal space and territoriality from the relationship and use of their stalls/boxes.
