CAPS are essential for providing care to individuals experiencing psychological distress, including those affected by substance abuse. Although Belém has nine CAPS, the population size and demand indicate the need for more units.The study is justified by the increasing attention to mental health issues, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has heightened the demand for quality treatment in the public health system. According to the 2022 Census data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Belém has over 1.2 million inhabitants, underscoring the need for additional CAPS as outlined in Law 10.216/99. The current infrastructure of CAPS in Belém is inadequate to meet the population's needs, affecting the quality of care.Moreover, many CAPS in Belém lack essential elements related to humanization and spatial ambiance, which are crucial for effective mental health treatment. This study examines the architectural contributions to mental health ecovery, proposing a CAPS III project that addresses the local needs and creates a therapeutic environment.
