Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8258This study investigates the formation of urban heat islands in the municipality of Castanhal-PA through spectral indices and land surface temperature (LST) analysis. Using 2023 Landsat 8 satellite images and remote sensing techniques, the EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index) and UI (Urban Index) indices were calculated to correlate urbanization, vegetation cover, and temperature. The research found a positive correlation between urbanization and temperature rise, and a negative correlation between the vegetation index and temperature. The developed linear regression model showed a significant fit to model the LST based on the UI, suggesting that the conservation and expansion of green areas are essential to mitigate the effects of urban warming.
