Due to its location in a tropical region of the planet, where a hot and humid climate favors the formation of cumulonimbus (Cb) clouds, the Amazon region exhibits a high incidence of ADs. This study presents a low-cost system for capturing images of ADs in the Amazon. The proposed system consists of a Single-Board Computer (SBC), a camera with a resolution of 1280x720p and a capture rate of 120 frames per second, along with a microcontroller-based system for recording the electric fields emitted by lightning. The focus of this work is the video capture system, for which algorithms were developed to automatically start and stop recordings, as well as to process videos to identify the specific frames where ADs occurred, utilizing the Application Programming Interface (API) of the FFmpeg software. In addition to the proposed system, the results of a two-year lightning measurement campaign using a high-speed camera installed at the Management and Operational Center for the Amazon Protection System (CENSIPAM) will be presented. The analyzed parameters include the number of return strokes, the number of ground contacts, the continuous current, and the time intervals between discharges.
