The region is located at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and features vegetation characteristic of the tropical Amazon biome. The study studied the effects of this vegetation on signals provided by a LoRa network, one of the key connectivity architectures for the Internet of Things. The prediction model was developed in the Wireless InSite simulator using Full 3D and X3D-Weissberger techniques. It proposed a forest with homogeneous vegetation represented by a single 3D solid, where a transmitter is positioned externally and will send rays to receivers positioned internally, generating the received power and the ray propagation paths at these points as output. Subsequently, this deterministic forecast was compared with measurements and the empirical vegetation models of Weissberger, ITU-R, FITU-R, and COST 235, to evaluate the simulation and validate the proposed model. The simulation results showed that the Full 3D and X3D-Weissberger models obtained better predictions than the empirical models, with RMSE of 13.23 and 17.33, respectively. However, only Full 3D properly considered the variability of the forest channel, along with the ITU-R model, which obtained DP values of 22.92 and 15.66, respectively. ITU-R was the closest to the measurements, with a DP of 18.13 In contrast, the X3D-Weissberger model had a DP of 12.12 Therefore, the Full 3D model best fitted the measurement data, validating the proposed model.
