Beyond Catholic religiosity, devotion to the saint expresses family ties and dialogues with ancestral knowledge, especially with the knowledge of the local midwives, important contributors to the saint's worship in the area. These characteristics strengthen the community spirit and build identity around the image based on the experiences lived by the residents.
