Motor development in childhood is an essential process for acquiring fundamental motor skills, influenced by experiences during this stage of life. In this context, classical ballet stands out as an activity capable of stimulating cognitive, motor, and psychomotor aspects through specific exercises that work on balance, laterality, coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and body awareness. The study is based on bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, drawing upon scientific articles, theses, and dissertations published on the topics of child motor development, psychomotricity, and classical ballet. The literature indicates that practicing classical ballet can foster the development of fundamental motor skills and psychomotor foundations that enhance balance, motor coordination, laterality, body schema, and spatial and temporal orientation. It was also observed that ballet promotes benefits related to discipline, concentration, expression, socialization, and child autonomy. Thus, it is concluded that when instruction is tailored to individual characteristics and delivered by qualified professionals, it becomes a significant strategy for fostering motor development and the child's healthy growth. Beyond enhancing various fundamental motor skills, the practice contributes to cognitive, affective, and social development, boosting autonomy, discipline, and creativity, as well as interaction with the child's environment. The analyzed studies also demonstrated the importance of expanding research on this topic to further substantiate the scientific evidence regarding the benefits classical ballet offers for child development. This work is expected to contribute significantly to expanding knowledge about the benefits of classical ballet and the appreciation of this practice as a strategy for children's motor development, as well as stimulating new studies in the area.
