Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8596The general objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between educational policies for incarcerated individuals and the guarantee of the right to education through Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in the prison institutions of the city of Abaetetuba. Considering that individuals deprived of liberty are subjects of rights, we emphasize that they are also supported by governmental policies. From a methodological standpoint, this research adopts a qualitative approach and employs bibliographic and documentary research. Education within the context of deprivation of liberty and public policies is examined through the theoretical contributions of Onofre (2015), Leme (2011), Camões (2018), Greco (2011), Sereni (2019), among others. On the documentary level, the study analyzes the Penal Execution Law (1984), the State Education Plan (PEE), and aspects of the Law of Guidelines and Bases (LDB). From this perspective, the research locus is the city of Abaetetuba, which has two penal units: the Abaetetuba Semi-Open Regime Reintegration Unit (URRS ABT) and the Abaetetuba Custody and Reintegration Unit (UCR ABT), formerly known as CTMABT. The core of the analysis focuses on the URRS ABT unit, as it is the space where EJA is offered. As a result, the study highlights that prison is a space inhabited by individuals marked by societal stigma and who live daily with the deprivation of their rights one of which is the right to education, the central object of this research. In conclusion, the study indicates a partial absence of educational public policies specifically aimed at incarcerated individuals. It also reveals the difficulty in accessing documents that address this theme, and that both official documents and theoretical texts suggest that the educational policies applied to prisons are general in nature.
