Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/983The inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) is considered one of the best alternatives of mandibular anesthesia because this is a nerve that extends through virtually all teeth. However, because it is considered difficult to execute, and with high failure rates, other simpler and more effective alternatives have emerged. The present study is a literature review that aims to investigate whether the techniques of infiltrative or complementary local anesthetics effectively replace the Lower Alveolar Nerve Block (BNAI), making it dispensable. Several techniques have been developed to provide mandibular anesthesia. And when deciding which technique prevails as the main method of achieving mandibular pulpal anesthesia, we must evaluate the benefits and disadvantages associated with each technique. It is important to have an adequate anatomical knowledge of the involved region, seeking the correct execution of the IANB technique, in view of its great importance as a technique of mandibular blockade. However, in certain cases, the technique may fail even when performed by experienced clinicians. Therefore, the adoption of the combined technique according to the literature has demonstrated the most reliable alternative.Acesso AbertoAnestesia localNervo mandibularTécnicas anestésicasBloqueio do nervo alveolar inferiorCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAO bloqueio do nervo alveolar inferior e as controvérsias quanto a sua eficáciaTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
