This study aimed to understand and describe women’s protagonism in a family farming production unit in the Quilombola Community of Baixo Itacuruçá, in the municipality of Abaetetuba-PA, analyzing her role in agricultural production, in the organization of the productive unit, in family care, and in other daily activities. The research was carried out during the Supervised Internships I, II and III of the Agroecology Technology course at UFPA – Abaetetuba Campus, between October 11 and 17, 2023, and later extended through WhatsApp conversations from September to December 2024, which made it possible to complement the information and record narratives of the interlocutor. The approach adopted was descriptive, using a case study, with the farmer herself as the primary source. The methodology included the application of questionnaires, interviews, informal dialogues, field walks, direct and participant observation, as well as photographic and audio records, which enabled the inclusion of narratives throughout the text. The results highlight the protagonism of Dona Maria de Lourdes, 37 years old, a quilombola farmer, responsible for the implementation and management of a diversified orchard with 121 seedlings of 21 fruit species, such as açaí, cupuaçu, cocoa, and banana. She reconciles these activities with household chores, the care of her three daughters, and active community participation, acting as a pastor in the local church, coordinator and organizer of events and solidarity actions. Her activities also extend to the construction of her own house. The narratives reveal a strong connection with agriculture since childhood and the desire to provide her daughters with educational opportunities. Despite difficulties, such as the absence of technical assistance and fear of accessing rural credit, she maintains and expands production based on traditional knowledge and community support. The study reinforces the importance of giving visibility to women’s work in the countryside and the need for public policies that strengthen their autonomy.
