Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4950This work presents the implementation of quality management systems, thus making it a fundamental and indispensable part for the good performance of the laboratory, as well as safety in the workplace. In this context, the adoption of continuous improvement tools, such as kaizen, aims at the search for continuous improvement in all aspects, reflecting productivity, quality without expense or with minimal investment, since every organization has the opportunity to improve quality of its products and services, thus guaranteeing the employees' satisfaction. Work safety consists of a set of technical knowledge and specific standards that help to reduce the risk of accidents and the occurrence of occupational diseases. The idea is to offer a healthy and safe working environment through the identification, analysis and control of risk situations, as well as to guarantee the protection of the health and physical integrity of employees. In this way, the methodology was applied in the Machine Operator Laboratory of the Federal University of Pará-Campus Tucuruí. The implementation of this work occurred with the 5S and Brainstorming tools, making the laboratory an organized, standardized and safer environment, facilitating the accomplishment of the activities. The results show that it was fundamentally important to implement the quality management system, providing satisfaction to the employees.
