This region is important because located in the contact area of geotectonic three entities: the extreme NW Borborema Province, the east- southeastern edge of the São Luis Craton and the northern portion of the Parnaíba Basin. The São Luis Craton is a geotectonic entity built at the end of the Paleoproterozoic and a fragment of a much larger unit, the West African Craton. At the edge of the São Luis Craton, partially regenerated geotechnical, settled mainly in the Neoproterozoic, intense geological activity At the edge of the São Luis Craton, partially regenerated geotechnical, settled mainly in the Neoproterozoic, intense geologic activity (magmatism, crustal reworking and strong tectonics) who reveals himself in the window structure that occurs in the neighboring Pará-Maranhão. This phenomenology is related to geological processes that built the Borborema Province, especially those reported in the Dominion middle Coreaú. In the specific area of work, occur the granitoid Chaval and migmatites hybrids, as found in the nomination Jaibaras Project (CPRM - 1973). The Parnaíba Basin formed by a portion of Paleozoic (Parnaíba Basin sensu stricto) and partially overlapped by Mesozoic epicontinental coverage (Grajaú Basin), is represented by the Serra Grande Group (Silurino) composed of coarse sandstones and conglomeratic sandstones. The area is rich in thin Cenozoic sedimentary covers (Group Barriers) and recent structural windows that reveal in the underlying rocks. In order to contribute to the definition of contacts, often hidden among these geotectonic units, the area was the subject of a thorough job analysis elements of relief and drainage, allowing the partitioning of it into homologous zones, taking as a basis the methodology proposed by Soares and Fiori (1976). Thus, the relief was divided into two regions homologous factors second lithologic and morphogenetic deformation. Allied to this study elements of relief and drainage work was undertaken of gravity survey to try to demarcate more precisely the passage of these geotectonic units, which by analysis of the densities of basement rocks.
