The general objective is to understand Rua da Macacada as a place of memory of black lives in the city of Abaetetuba and its potential for local history teaching in elementary school. The adopted methodology is the qualitative approach, using Oral History and bibliographic research as data collection instruments. The theoretical contribution includes Silva (2016), Azevedo and Stamatto (2010), Barros (2013), Barros (1989), Fonseca (2003), Gonçalves (2015), Haley and Faria (2021), Nora (1993), Pereira (2016), Silva and Silva (2009). I conclude that “Rua da Macacada” is a space loaded with affective, political, and cultural meanings; thus, seeking its memories becomes necessary for the acknowledgment and appreciation of black identities in the city of Abaetetuba. Furthermore, the research reinforces the importance of incorporating local history themes into these discussions to enhance the teaching of History, especially in the early years of Elementary School from a more critical perspective that engages with the students' experiences.
