Panoramic digital radiographs of patients aged 4 to 80 years, were selected consecutively in the secondary database of the Dental Radiology Teaching Laboratory of the Faculty of Dentistry at UFPA. The apparent size of the styloid process was measured from the point at which the styloid leaves the tympanic plate until the end of the process, by two evaluators, with the help of measurement tools in Adobe Photoshop CS3 software. The styloid process measuring more than 30 mm was considered elongated. The statistical analysis included frequency distribution and crosstabulation. The data were analyzed using chi-square tests with a level of significance set at 5%. A total of 536 lateral radiographic images (68.8%) were suggestive of an elongated styloid process. Of these, 476 (88.8%) suggest bilateral stretching. The prevalence of the elongated styloid process was high and no statistically significant correlation was found between the presence of the elongated styloid process and the variables studied.Acesso AbertoRadiografia Panorâmica DigitalDesordens temporomandibularesProcesso EstilóideCalcificaçãoDigital Panoramic RadiographyTemporomandibular disordersSteroid ProcessCalcificationCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAPrevalência do processo estilóide alongado nas radiografias panorâmicas digitais em uma subpopulaçãoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - ArtigoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
