Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8384The Manihot esculenta Crantz (manioc) is considered the Brazilian of the crop and presents a range of folk varieties used and maintained by the rural populations, mainly in family agriculture. In this way the study aims to know the folk varieties of the Manihot esculenta Crantz species, in addition to specifying the products derived from cassava and its use besides pointing out which of the products is most used domestically and commercially in Vila Betel. The Vila is located on the Portel-Tucuruí road, on the left bank of the Camarapi River, approximately 18 km from the city of Portel, in the Municipality of Portel, Pará State. Botanic and ethnobotanical data were collected through the application of questionnaires Semi- structured, making use of the qualitative and quantitative approaches. The collection of botanical material was carried out in the period from August 15 to 25, 2015 and the ethnobotanical data from October 11 to 20 and December 15 to 30, 2015, and three specimens of each ethno-variety were collected and deposited in the biological collection of the laboratory of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, UFPA, Campus Marajó-Breves. The results of the research verified seven manioc folk varieties cultivated by the producers: Pai Lourenço, Pindobá, Amarelona, Achada, Acaraí, Black Hake or Zolhuda and Macaxeira. Folk varieties are used in the production of derivatives for both domestic consumption and commercialization, with emphasis on flour and tapioca in the branch with 100% each, followed by the foot of 30% for both consumption and commercialization, while The beiju stood out with a 100% indication in regards only for own consumption.
