In order to achieve the objective, a qualitative research approach was carried out through participant observation with nine farming families, containing open and closed questions, in addition to cross-sectional surveys and notes in a field diary. The data were analyzed through content analysis. The results indicate that the community uses the practice of slash and burn to clear the area, a fact that contributes to the extinction of species in the community. However, the strong presence of agribusiness is responsible for larger extensions of deforested areas, when compared to family farming, resulting in the high extinction of tree species, as well as the exodus of families co-opted to sell their lands to this rural segment. Thus, it was found that the main tree species threatened by deforestation in the Taboca community are piquiá, Brazil nut, uxi, Angelin, Massaranduba and Jarana, and the conservation strategies for these species are agroforestry backyards and forest remnants.
