The meliponines are among the most effective pollinating plants that comprise the Amazon vegetation (KERR, 2002). The rational creation of indigenous bees (known as beekeeping) (NOGUEIRA-NETO, 1997), is not a new activity, as it was practiced by the indigenous people (CORTOPASSI-LAURINDO et al. 2006) and has been growing among honey producers throughout the country. The objective of this research was to characterize the meliponiculture the Canaanite city of Carajás-PA through a questionnaire. They interviewed eight (08) meliponicultors "in loco" through direct examination, using formal written questionnaire. For the analysis of responses, we made a sheet for each topic covered using the Excel application, which the absolute values and percentages obtained were shown. It was diagnosed that beekeeping in the city is a predominantly male activity (100%), and more exercised in the rural area (75%). There are species that stands out in preference of beekeepers and gray Uruçu (Melipona fasciculata), present in 50% of the properties. As for the marketing of honey, 100% exploit the activity use and sell the product, with the price varying from $ 50.00 to R $ 70.00 per liter. We conclude that beekeeping is presented as a good economic alternative for small farmers, and contribute significantly to the environment, however, there is need to increase knowledge about bees and promote specific training to improve and standardize management practices.Acesso AbertoAbelha sem ferrãoCriaçãoManejoGestão ambientalCanaã dos Carajás - PACNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIAS::GEOLOGIACaracterização ambiental da meliponicultura no município de Canaã dos Carajás, Pará, BrasilTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso - Especialização
