Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/3100The Lavras da Mangabeira Duplex is a ductile regional structure located at the Granjeiro Domain along the Borborema Province, NE Brazil. It is a large scale dextral transpressional structure that underwent medium to high metamorphic conditions. It is closely related to the development of the Patos Shear Zone, during the Neoproterozoic Gondwana assemblage. The Lavras da Mangabeira Duplex comprises several Precambrian crustal domains, reworked during the Brasiliano Cycle (0.950 – 0.490 Ga) with high grade gneisses, mylonites, migmatites and syn to late tectonic granitoids. The region was studied by accessing 43 outcrops where the geometric and kinematic analyses were developed by the preparation of several field sketches and detail mapping groundwork (e.g., 1:250, 1:500). Field data were processed in GIS to produce a 1:25000 geological map. The rocks in the studied area are quartzites, protomylonites, mylonites, syenogranites and migmatites, related to the Caicó Complex (2.2 Ga). These metamorphic rocks underwent amphibolite facies conditions (500°C and 700°C), and exhibit NE-SW trending foliations, with dips ranging from 30° to sub-vertical, towards SE. Stretching lineation and fold axes are shallow plunging (8° to 16°) towards NE and SW. Axial planes in isoclinal folds are mostly SE dipping with moderate angles from 50° to 60°. Porphyro and boudins are symmetrical and concordant with the foliation. The geometric and kinematic analyses point out to a dominated coaxial shear (pure shear-dominated), with high strain rates, with a NW-SE shortening direction and stretching along the NE-SW direction. The Lavras da Mangabeira Duplex is a pure shear-dominated transpressive feature, with both geometric and kinematic strain partitioning.
