The research adopts a qualitative approach of an exploratory and descriptive nature. A bibliographic study and a comparative analysis of archival diagnosis models available in Brazilian archival literature were conducted. Different conceptual and methodological applications were identified, and their main characteristics were analyzed, considering the presence of an institutional focus, the interaction with archival functions, and the use of normative instruments. As a result, a model structured around conceptual pillars and a suggested step-by-step framework is presented, aiming to provide support for the planning and execution of archival functions in records management. It is emphasized that the proposed model was not empirically applied and therefore constitutes a theoretical-methodological proposal subject to validation and improvement in future studies. In this sense, the study contributes to the consolidation of archival diagnosis as a strategic instrument within Archival Science, particularly in the field of records management.
