In today's education, however, it has been left to the detriment of diverse, not less important, knowledge which is fully developed by professionals with pedagogical training, a formation which, according to several authors, is inappropriate for performance. Science plays a fundamental role in social formation, in the collective and personal approach to education, broadening its understanding and qualification to intercalate in its community. In this context, the objective of this work is to understand the understanding of the teachers who work in the initial years of elementary education in public schools in the municipality of Breves - Pará, on the importance of teaching science. More specifically (1) Investigate the space of science teaching in the initial years of elementary school; (2) Check the time load of the science discipline in the initial years of elementary school; (3) To identify as main methodologies / strategies for science teachers who act in the initial years; and (4) Identify teachers' difficulties in teaching science. In general, primary school teachers acknowledge the importance of science education, acknowledge the time devoted to discipline and inefficient, and the lack of collaborative structure for strategy limitation due to the lack of conceptual training to develop the strategy investments.
