Chronic exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a significant factor in its development, leading to cellular DNA damage. This study aimed to analyze the incidence and clinical aspects of ocular SCC in horses over a ten-year period, based on data from 14 animals diagnosed in different locations in the Amazon biome. Inclusion was based on histopathological confirmation, with no restrictions on age, sex, or hair color. Data on age, sex, anatomical location, and laterality of lesions were recorded. The results showed a mean age of 6.6 years for affected horses, with a male predominance (71.4%) and a higher incidence in albinos (35.7%). The eyeball was the most affected structure, contrary to what the literature suggests, where the lower eyelid, lateral canthus, and third eyelid are the most common sites. The data obtained may directly influence detection and therapeutic intervention practices for CCE in horses. The research indicated that high sun exposure in the region may contribute to the onset of CCE at younger ages. The study reinforces the importance of monitoring and management strategies to prevent CCE, highlighting the need for further research to understand the mechanisms and risk factors involved in the disease.
