Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5776It aims to understand the Center of Memory, Information, and Documenting of the School of Music of UFPA (CEMID/UFPA) as an unit of information, as well as the context of organization of musical information, especially sheet music. It investigates the representation of the information of the units of sheet music, understanding its link to the other activities done by the library. It utilizes qualitative and exploratory research consisting of three moments. First, a bibliographical research was done by means of the Database on Information Science portal - BRAPCI, of articles with the music theme in the articles produced on Information Science from 1972 to 2022. The second moment was establishing guidelines for the organization of music information with a focus on sheet music, by surveying relevant literature on musicology on the bibliographical research and library science literature. Finally, there was investigation of the activities in information organization developed on CEMID/UFPA, by the means of a semi structured interview done with the responsible librarian, whose answers were compared to the referents developed during the research. It finds that the important elements in the sheet music units for the ends of information representation are: labels of authorship, titles, genres and the labeling itself of documental type (sheet music). It presents the treatment of such registers by means of AACR2. It shows as result that, in relation to CEMID, cataloging registers are simple, and that the totality of sheets is not in the Libraries System of UFPA (SIBI/UFPA), which causes, in the long run, problems of uniformity and consistency of information, even if, as it is the custom of the information unit in question, to facilitate access to consult in a more localized manner, in order to immediately make material available to the demands and needs of the user, this can inflict a complication to users who research only through SIBI/UFPA in the tab of the School of Music. It demonstrates that the variety and quality of the collection of CEMID/EMUFPA enables the development of an authority bank that would help in the organizing and recovering of information.
