This paper shares experiences lived within the context of the Pedagogical Residency Program, in the Biology/Science core of the Institute of Coastal Studies at UFPA. This is an experience report based on memories recorded in a training memoir, used as an instrument for action-research-training. A didactic sequence aimed at meaningful learning and scientific literacy was developed with the objective of promoting sex education in schools through teaching-learning actions involving the sharing of reliable information about STIs/HPV linked to the knowledge objects of viruses and vaccines. The Pedagogical Residency has provided a rich experience on how to work with sensitive topics that are still taboos in some schools. Our experience showed that the approach to these knowledge objects through the combination of different teaching strategies—such as interactive lectures based on motivating questions and the use of audiovisual resources, text reading and discussion, playful simulation of processes and techniques performed by scientists, and the production of audiovisual content and folders by the students—successfully fostered a welcoming and safe environment, which is so important in work involving sex education, and provided an opportunity for students' active participation and increased their awareness of healthy practices.Acesso AbertoResidência PedagógicaEnsino de CiênciasEducação sexualVacinaHPVPedagogical ResidencyScience TeachingSex EducationVaccineHPVCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAOEducação sexual nas aulas de ciências: o HPV em focoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
