Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9227This research investigates the difficulties in accessing health services faced by riverine women, especially in the areas of gynecology and mastology, with a particular focus on the Santo Antônio do Rio Aranaizinho community. Furthermore, it seeks to highlight how traditional medicine and popular religiosity, especially the devotion to Saint Anthony, intersect in a scenario of self-care, faith, and belonging. The analysis was conducted using an ethnographic approach, utilizing fieldwork and dialogues with the community's female residents. The results indicate that inequalities in accessing health services transcend geographic barriers, being of a structural and political nature. However, other forms of self-care and knowledge are observed, defined not by scarcity, but by the persistence of ancestral practices linked to the territory.
