Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8059The purpose of this paper is to present some considerations present in the neurophilosophy of neuroscientist and philosopher Joshua Greene. Research in these fields aims to elucidate pertinent questions in the ethical and moral field in light of neuroscientific studies and cognitive sciences. This paper will discuss how emerging discoveries in brain sciences impact the traditional bases of moral and ethical philosophical thought. Greene argues for the existence of a dual model in decisionmaking in experiments with individuals subjected to moral dilemmas and analyzed through neuroimaging. In this way, the philosopher argues that there is a cognitive process (manual and flexible) and an emotional process (automatic and intuitive) that differ in the production of moral judgments. In addition, the philosophical and ethical implications of this approach are highlighted, questioning traditional concepts in morality and ethics. This article presents a brief overview of the interaction between mind, brain, ethics and morality, challenging established notions and promoting a broader reflection on the nature of human behavior.
