In this context, this article presents the development and physico-mechanical characterization of flat roof tiles produced using a metakaolin-based geopolymer mortar activated by an alkaline solution of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate, aiming to evaluate their technical feasibility as an alternative to conventional concrete tiles. Six cylindrical specimens (50 × 100 mm) were cast for axial compression testing, and three flat tiles (170 × 465 × 50 mm) were cast for flexural, water absorption, and watertightness testing, following the parameters of NBR 13858-2 (ABNT, 2009). Results at 28 days showed an average axial compressive strength of 40.8 MPa, an average flexural failure load of 3.34 kN, water absorption of 13.5%, and complete watertightness during 60 minutes of simulated rainfall. The flexural strength obtained was approximately 68% higher than the minimum limit (2.0 kN) specified in NBR 13858-2 (ABNT, 2009). Water absorption remained within the limits established by the standard.Acesso AbertoConcreto geopoliméricoTelhas de concretoSustentabilidadeMateriais alternativosConstrução civilGeopolymer concreteRoof tilesSustainabilityAlternative materialsConstruction industryCNPQ::ENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA CIVILTelha de geopolímeroGeopolymer roof tileTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - ArtigoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
