The research focuses on a specific case of a document management unit located in an aluminum ingot factory in the interior of Pará, aiming to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve service delivery. The applied methodology involved a literature review combined with fieldwork, which included on-site observations, interviews, and timing of selected activities. Data analysis was conducted using the ARENA simulation software, allowing for system modeling and the application of queue theory to identify and quantify operational bottlenecks and evaluate proposed solutions for the identified problem. Results showed that adopting practices based on queue theory and time and motion analysis can significantly reduce wait times, increase productivity, and provide competitive advantages for the company by adding an additional workstation with dedicated service, maintaining a single queue for servicing factory employees under the existing circumstances.
