In recent years, due to the inadequate practices assumed by society, this resource is at serious risk of scarcity, if there are no drastic changes in the consumption habits of individuals. This research aimed to apprehend the aspects related to the approach of the theme "Water" by elementary school teachers of the final years. This is a qualitative research, which was chosen (3) three public elementary schools in the municipality of Breves, located in the urban area. To achieve the research objectives, we adopted as data collection strategy through the application of questionnaires, containing (7) seven open questions, in which 8 teachers participated, but we chose to analyze only (5) five questionnaires that were more significant in understanding of the investigated phenomena. We opted for interpretative analysis to proceed to data analysis. The results showed that the teachers present similar conceptions / approaches on the water theme, strongly based on the preservation / conservation of this resource and that they use several teaching strategies to treat the content. We believe that working on environmental issues, such as water, in the classroom is very important, considering that the school is the ideal place to build a critical, thinking, active participant in decisions about environmental issues in the environment in which it is inserted.
