Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8098The following report presents the activities carried out during the project entitled "Safeguarding the collection of processes and registry offices' documents from the Court of Justice of Pará, Brazil, 1818-1970", conducted by the Amazônia Memory Center (CMA) in partnership with the British Library (United Kingdom). The project aimed to promote the treatment, cataloging, and digitization of criminal court records and notary books belonging to the Court of Justice of the State of Pará (TJE/PA), whose collection has been safeguarded by the CMA since 2007. With the participation of a team of scholarship holders from the history course at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the project's methodology involved activities such as reading court records to fill out a metadata spreadsheet provided by the British Library, as well as digitizing documents on illuminated tables with support for professional cameras. After image capture, they were saved in TIFF format and stored on external hard drives with a backup copy on the virtual storage platform sharepoint. The digitization was carried out over a period of 21 months. As a result, 3.586 criminal cases and police investigations were digitized and will be available on the Endangered Archives Programme and Amazônia Memory Center websites.
