The rationale for the study highlights the growing concern for the health of workers exposed to environments with silica, especially in sectors such as mining and construction. Silicosis is an irreversible condition that can lead to severe complications, and the implementation of adequate safety measures is crucial to prevent this disease. The study sought to contribute to raising awareness about the importance of occupational safety and the need for effective prevention policies. The general objective of the study was to analyze the role of occupational safety in preventing silicosis, seeking to understand how safety practices can reduce the incidence of this disease among exposed workers. The specific objectives included identifying the main characteristics of silica and the work environments that present a risk of exposure, examining occupational lung diseases, with a focus on silicosis, evaluating the Regulatory Standards related to occupational safety and their application in the prevention of silicosis, and proposing means of prevention and protection for workers exposed to silica. It was observed that the implementation of effective safety measures, such as the use of Personal Protective Equipment and the adoption of safety practices in the workplace, is essential for the prevention of silicosis. In addition, the study emphasizes the importance of training and raising awareness among workers about the risks of exposure to silica and the need for a safe work environment. It is concluded that, with the adequate application of safety standards and the promotion of a culture of prevention, it is possible to significantly reduce the incidence of silicosis and protect the health of workers.Acesso AbertoSilicoseSegurança do trabalhoDoença ocupacionalSilicosisWorkplace safetyOccupational diseaseCNPQ::ENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA DE PRODUCAO::GERENCIA DE PRODUCAO::HIGIENE E SEGURANCA DO TRABALHOO papel da segurança do trabalho na prevenção da silicoseTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International
