Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1696The objective of the present study was to verify if the street plays, which are part of the students' daily life, are being used in the teaching and learning process as a methodology for the acquisition of new knowledge. Twenty-seven Physical Education teachers from the municipal network of Castanhal participated in the study, who taught classes in the initial years of elementary school, being 02 women and 05 men, with an average age of 35 years. A semi-structured interview was carried out, where the interview was recorded, and the content analysis technique presented by Bardin (1977) was used to analyze the data. The results of the research showed that teachers use the games, practiced by students in daily life, in the process of teaching and learning and that value the acquired knowledge through the experiences of students, which are part of their cultures.
