Recently a new osteotomy technique was introduced, a method of bone preservation that creates a compact layer of bone along the surface of the osteotomy. This article reviews the scientific literature available and presents studies in vitro and in vivo, with the objective of presenting qualitative effects of osseodensification in relation to conventional osteotomy. With the previously defined search criteria, 140 articles were identified in the databases (academic Google and PubMed), after applying the exclusion and inclusion criteria, 10 articles answered the guiding question of the job. At the end of the analysis, two variants were highlighted: Biomechanics and Histology. It is possible to state that the osseodensification technique showed higher insertion torque and higher BIC values when compared to the conventional osteotomy technique, resulting in superior primary stability.
