Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8670This study identified challenges in the implementation of the New High School (NEM) program at Benvinda de Araújo Pontes School, in Abaetetuba, Pará, highlighting the role of the Direct Money in School Program (PDDE Básico). The objective was to evaluate how PDDE Básico can contribute to the effectiveness of NEM. It sought to understand the reasons for the gap between the school's practices andmthe NEM proposal, even though it had adopted PDDE Básico. The methodology combined field, bibliographic, and documentary research. The study revealed that the school faces issues with financial accountability and a lack of community participation in the School Council, which contributes to financial blockages. It concludes that the successful implementation of NEM is related to infrastructural and pedagogical support. Therefore, PDDE Básico presents itself as potential financial support.
